Rogue Trader? Not Anymore!
With thanks to BBC’s Rogue Traders, a man has been sentenced to a prison term for illegally installing Gas heating equipment.
Andrew John Carslake of Aqua Plumbing had already been given a prohibition notice in 2008 after a complaint was made against him.
Ignoring this prohibition notice, he was then caught on camera in 2009 by the BBC’s Rogue Traders programme.
Admitting breaking the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Gas Safety Installation and Use Regulation 1998, he was sentenced to six months for each act making a total of one year.
This case highlights the importance of ensuring that you and those who work for you are qualified and competent to carry out work of this nature.
The gas and electrical industry work with many sensitive and highly dangerous instruments and equipment, meaning that an unqualified, unfit worker such as Andrew Carslake can cause serious potential danger to himself and those around him by not possessing the necessary skills to undertake a job in the correct and legal way, following all the guidelines and regulations for industry professionals.
