About the High Voltage Cable Sheath Testing

This course covers the theoretical and practical principles of sheath testing on high voltage distribution systems, with emphasis placed upon safety requirements and interpretation of test results. Safety in electrical testing at work INDG354.

Entry Requirements / Suitability

Entry Requirements

Electrical Engineers/Technicians responsible for carrying out or supervising high voltage sheath testing. If the candidate is working on anything other than new cable installations. It is recommended that candidates should be authorised to receive sanction for test documents (HVS05) before taking this course.

Suitability

You should be responsible, or are going to be responsible for carrying out Cable Sheath Testing or will be a supervisor responsible for overseeing this type of work.

 

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Pass Certificate of Competency in HV Cable Sheath Testing.

For candidates who decide not to undertake the assessments or are unsuccessful when taking the assessments, you will receive a certificate of attendance instead.

Assessment

You will be expected to complete a written examination as well as take part in a practical examination during this course.

About the PASS High Voltage Training Centre

To train to safely work with high voltage equipment, you need a realistic simulation of the actual conditions you’ll face when working. The PASS high voltage training centre has been designed to give you this experience, with authentic switchgear, transformers and other HV equipment for you to work with during your programme.

Our programmes are led by our experienced HV training professionals, each of whom has worked for several decades in the HV industry. When you’re not out performing practical tasks in the HV centre, you’ll be in our classrooms learning the important theory behind your programme, or relaxing in our canteen for your provided lunch.

The PASS HV training centre is in Stockton-On-Tees, which is situated in North East England. It’s within easy access from all major motorways such as the A1 and A19 and is excellent for anyone travelling from Sunderland, Durham, Newcastle and the surrounding area. If you are travelling from further away or overseas, we can help you with finding a place to stay during the programme and ensure you have everything you’ll need during your stay.
