The City & Guilds In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Course (2377-77)

Learn to perform (PAT) Portable Appliance Testing at PASS Maidstone with the City & Guilds 2-day course. The course focuses on electrical equipment testing and covers all in-service electrical equipment with key learning of operational and management aspects of PAT testing which includes theory and practical elements.

Course Details

The City and Guilds 2377-77 PAT Testing training course will instruct you in the process of PAT testing by teaching the theoretical and practical aspects of testing. Delegates will learn about the hazards of electricity, appliance classes, the legal requirements of PAT testing, the IEE Code of Practice and also experience hands-on PAT testing using our range of supplied appliances and PAT testers. Attendees can also use their own PAT testers if they wish and are encouraged to bring them along to the course.

After the course candidates should have the sufficient knowledge to carry out basic PAT testing work and satisfy the Electricity at Work Regulations.

Assessment

As part of the course candidates are expected to take part in an individual practical assessment and sit a 1 hour 45 minute, open-book PAT testing exam.

Anyone who attends receives a PASS certificate of attendance. Those who successfully complete the PAT testing course will be awarded a fully-certified City and Guilds In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment 2377-77 certificate which deems you competent to undertake PAT testing work.

Length

This course is split over two consecutive days, starting at 9am through to 5pm. The full duration of the course is 14 hours, with an hour for lunch each day.

Course Suitability

Course Suitability

City & Guilds does not set entry requirements for this qualification. However, candidates attempting the qualification are expected to be familiar with electrical systems and the hazards of electricity to satisfactorily complete the qualification.

It would also be beneficial to complete our 1 x day PAT Competence Course prior to the 2377-77

We recommend 2377-77 learners have the following:

  • An understanding of electrics/electrical background
  • An understanding of OHMs law
  • Basic maths skills
  • A knowledge of PAT testing

Pre-requisites

No formal pre-requisites are required. However, a good knowledge of electricity would be beneficial.

Learners are required to be familiar with and bring to the course a copy of the IET Code of Practice (5th Edition).

Please Note for the Examination: It is a City & Guilds rule that no digital devices are allowed in an exam room. Only original hard copies of the IET Code of Practice are allowed.
