The City & Guilds Electric Vehicle Charging Installations qualification aims to provide expert guidance to learners wishing to gain knowledge and understanding of Electric Vehicle charging equipment installations. The course is aimed at practising electricians wishing to upskill, to install and maintain Electric Vehicle charging posts safely. This is a growing industry which needs more competent installers to meet the increasing demand.
The qualification includes methods of protection against open circuit PEN conductors and assessing if an installation has an issue with the diverted neutral current. It also includes smart functions in EVSE and integration into prosumer’s electrical installations.

2 days course (includes City & Guilds Exam)

Entry Requirements / Suitability
This course is for qualified electricians who want to expand their skills to include the installation and maintenance of single electric vehicle charging units in both domestic and commercial properties.
The following levels of competency are able to attend this course: NVQ Level 3, Holders of ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card
You must be aged 18 or over. It is recommended that you are up to date with the latest wiring regulations (18th Edition).
Certification
On successful completion of the course assessment, you will receive a 2921-34 City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Installations.
Assessment
Short answer written questions and design scenario questions (90 minutes / Open book exam).
Online multiple-choice questions. 28 questions 45 minutes. Open book

• Requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment.
• The different types and features of electric vehicle charging equipment.
• Design and installation for electric vehicle charging equipment.
• Requirements for inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment and circuits.
• The use of vehicles as electrical energy storage systems as part of prosumer’s installations.
