The Electrical Year
2012 has been an interesting year for the electrical industry with Microgeneration and energy efficiency still big news.
Solar PV was much talked about at the beginning of the year with the Government changes to the Feed-in-Tariff. However, Solar PV is still one of the best opportunities for electrical contractors to diversify into with huge demand for PV installers and more and more companies and people having solar panels fitted.
Also in 2012 the Government’s environmental scheme, the Green Deal, launched this October. But results for this are set to take a little while to materialise into some substance.
Part P was also under the spotlight this year with its examination by the CLG Select Committee who investigated its effectiveness for industry standards. The committee however, found that it was happy with Part P and only recommended a general streamlining.
In the coming year there is sure to be another host of interesting topics, changes and discussions about the electrical industry.
We are certain that Solar PV will remain one of the best opportunities for industry growth and are expecting green issues to remain at the forefront of the Government agenda.
What’s your opinion of 2012 in the electrical industry and what do you think we’ve got to look forward to in 2013?
