About the Course
Taking place at our Stockton-On-Tees high voltage training centre, this course in Dielectric Strength Testing will introduce you to both the theory and practical work involved with performing dielectric (strength) testing on high voltage systems with voltage of up to (and including) 15kV.
Dielectric strength, also commonly known as high potential, pressure or hipot testing, involves testing components, products, cables etc to see how effective that item’s electrical insulation is. In high voltage applications, having heavy-duty electrical insulation is essential to ensure the safety of all those working around potentially hazardous equipment.
Our high voltage traning centre is equipped with all of the materials and equipment you’ll need to learn about performing dielectric strength testing. During the course, you’ll learn about insulating material characteristics, methods used to enable pressure testing on HV equipment (including cables, switchgear, transformers and motors) and also learn the safety requirements behind this testing, and the best way to interpret your testing results.
These modules are covered as part of the Stockton dielectric strength testing course:
- Safety Requirements
- Power Cables
- Insulation Resistance
- Polarisation Index
- Flash Testing
- DC Pressure Tests
- AC Pressure Tests
- VLF (Very Low Frequency) Tests
- Practical Testing Exercises
- Course Review
What Are the Entry Requirements for this Course?
If you wish to attend this course, you should have prior experience of working with electrical systems (ideally high voltage electrical systems).
You will be responsible, or are going to be responsible in the future for carring out dielectric strength testing on high voltage equipment, or you will be a supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing this type of work.
Anyone attending the dielectric strength testing Stockton training course must also have a good level of both spoken and written English.
Where is the Course?
Our dielectric strength testing course takes place at our Stockon-on-Tees high voltage training centre, ideally situated for those in the North East, including Stockton, Teesside, Middlesbrough, Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland and the surrounding area.
The address is as follows:
PASS – Stockton Centre
1 Alberto Street
