Prerequisites:

While there are no formal qualifications required for this course, it is essential that participants have a solid foundation in electrical science and principles. Prior experience in electrical installation work, whether in the electrical contracting industry or a related field, is crucial. Familiarity with live boards and an understanding of 3-phase systems is advantageous. Additionally, a good grasp of the latest IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) and an up-to-date 18th Edition certificate are recommended.

A strong grasp of electrical fundamentals is essential, and we strongly recommend a minimum of 2 years of experience in inspection and testing as a practising electrician before undertaking this course. Assessment:

This course includes a multiple-choice examination (40 questions, 80 minutes), a short-answer test (1 hour), and a practical test (2 hours).

Q: When will the 2394/95 courses finish?
A: Last registration for City and Guilds’ older courses will be at the end of August 2017, with a completion deadline of August 2018.

Q: Does this mean the 2394/95 courses will no longer be relevant?
A: No, the 2394 and 2395 courses will remain acceptable Level 3 qualifications. Holders of these qualifications do not need to take the new 2391 course(s).

Q: Have any of the exams changed for the new courses?
A: The significant change is that all exams are now open book, allowing you to refer to BS7671 Wiring Regulations and Guidance Note 3 books during the course and examinations.
